Did you know that the chocolate chip cookie was invented in 1938, in our neighboring state Massachusetts, by the American chefs Ruth Graves Wakefield and Sue Brides at the Toll House Inn? "We had been serving a thin butterscotch nut cookie with ice cream. Everybody seemed to love it, but I was trying to give them something different. So I came up with Toll House cookie," they said. The cookie’s popularity grew during WWII as soldiers from Massachusetts received care packages and shared the "Toll House Chocolate Crunch Cookies" with soldiers from other states, who then requested their families to send them Toll House cookies. The Inn was inundated with letters requesting the recipe. Today, we honor their creation with our milk chocolate morsel recipe, and we're confident you will agree. We honor this tradition with our classic milk chocolate chip cookie.
