Our most popular bread is our own version of a New England classic anadama bread. Have you heard the lore? It goes something like this: Originally the bread was perfected in Maine and eaten by fishermen. Their wives would make cornmeal mush for their cold fatigued husbands coming off the fishing boats. One day a fisherman tired of mush said to his wife, "Anna, damn it, I’m tired of mush - make bread!" She did, and he called it Anadama bread.” If ever hear another version claiming roots outside of New England, it clearly is not true (-:
